The Milkweed and the Monarch

This presentation includes a 20-minute slideshow.  All the photos were taken by me of the Milkweed and the Monarchs life cycle and entwined accompanied by music.  This presentation takes an hour which includes an introduction to the topic, why it is important to me, followed by the slideshow and time for questions and answers. I do not mind if the time ends up being longer.

There are so many surprises in this story as well as in the photography.  For example, photographing this process has taught me that it is really about the monarch caterpillar and the milkweed. The caterpillar cannot live on anything but the milkweed and the monarch has to have the milkweed so she can lay her egg. Its a great story with many little stories in it.

I always bring things along for a display table so everyone can see what I create with my photographs, including blank cards, mugs, coffee table books and more.

Please call me to schedule a date for your club/group /class or party.  You can contact me directly, or use the form at the bottom of the page.

Quilting my Photographs

This presentation includes how I pick my photographs and what I see in them, the texture I am looking for, printing an actual picture first printing on the fabric and matching the threads followed by adding the various stitches if needed or staying with just one, iron on the quilting batting, and stitching the first line.  Away we go!

I come with sample pieces and pictures of all the steps, as well as fabric samples so everyone can see what I mean.  I may bring my sewing machine to demonstrate.

I bring an assortment of things I have made out of my photographs for display such as coffee table books, mugs, pictures, cards and much more.
